What is the procedure involved and documents required for getting an Aadhaar number?

Interested persons can get their Aadhaar numbers through Alankit via the following procedure:

  • - Contact your nearest Alankit representative.
  • - Duly fill the application form at the nearest enrolment centre, available free of cost.
  • - Provide the required KYC documents which include Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA).
  • - Complete process for capturing Biometrics-photograph, fingerprint and iris scanning.
  • - Post the completion of enrolment, an acknowledgement slip with the enrolment ID (EID) is issued.
  • - The enrolment ID can be used to track the status of the verification process and receive the e-Aadhaar.

How long does it take for my application to be processed? Will I receive confirmation when it is processed?

The specified processing time of generating Aadhaar is 10 to 20 days approximately, however, the e-Aadhaar is usually available immediately after Aadhaar is generated of which message (SMS) is posted on resident’s phone number registered during enrolment. Usually e Aadhaar print can be taken promptly after receipt of SMS whereas Aadhaar sent by speed post by UIDAI takes 10 to15 days more to receive.

How will I receive my Aadhaar number?

The Aadhaar number is sent to the person’s registered address. It is, therefore, important to provide contact details including mobile number and e-mail id during the Aadhaar enrolment process.

Is the personal data I submit to UIDAI going to be secure with the Government? How will it be used?

The UIDAI is fully responsible for the security and safety of all citizens' data collected via Aadhaar and guarantees its security to safeguard this held information. Citizen data is accumulated through software and duly encrypted to avoid plausible breach. UIDAI's security system has embedded and specified storage and security protocols that are followed strictly.
